The Kingdom Builders Men’s Shed was established under the leadership of Dr. Tino Smith as part of a broader vision to strengthen men, families, and community life in Battle Creek.
Men’s Sheds began internationally as a response to social isolation among men and the loss of hands-on, generational skills. Recognizing this same need locally, Kingdom Builders launched the Men’s Shed to create a space where men can connect, build, mentor, and grow with purpose.
This initiative is supported in partnership with Calhoun County Senior Services and the Battle Creek Community Foundation, who have helped provide early funding and community alignment. However, the vision and implementation are rooted in Kingdom Builders’ ongoing commitment to serving men across generations.
Too many men are carrying weight in silence.
Isolation, loss of purpose, disconnection.
Men’s Sheds exist to change that.
They offer a space where men can:
Stay active and engaged
Support one another naturally
Reclaim a sense of identity and purpose
Because sometimes healing doesn’t happen face-to-face…
It happens shoulder to shoulder.
a place where men gather with purpose — to connect, share life experience and skills, and strengthen the health and well-being of men and the broader community.
We are a community of men choosing connection.
